Bye Bye Shuttle

As I type this I am also watching to NASA TV which is showing the live coverage of the space shuttle launch. THE LAST shuttle launch. I am saddened to see this chapter of space flight closing.

Growing up in Florida, I have many fond memories of running outside to watch the shuttle take off. Seeing that bright white line following it up into space. I remember hearing the sonic booms rock our garage doors whenever a shuttle came home.

Listening to the radio chatter I am tearing up. I LOVED the shuttle program growing up. Heading down to Kennedy Space Center to see the old spacecraft, watch the IMAX movie, and eat space ice cream.

Godspeed to Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, and Mission Specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim. Thank you to all those who have worked on this amazing program over the last 30 years.

I am a little sad to see the last space shuttle launch, but am hopeful for the prospects of future space flight. I hope to see someone on Mars.

If you are interested in learning more about the shuttle, here is NASA’s Space Shuttle Era website.
